Northeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission has recognized the City of Lancaster with a 2025 Impact Award for its successful slum and blight removal project, which has significantly improved community safety and revitalization efforts.
Through a $177,040 grant and in partnership with individual property owners, the City of Lancaster removed fourteen uninhabitable residential and commercial structures where rehabilitation was not feasible. The project eliminated long-standing blighted properties, reduced safety hazards, and created opportunities for future redevelopment and neighborhood improvement.
The 2025 Impact Awards honor outstanding initiatives that drive innovation, foster community development, and create lasting positive change across Northeast Missouri. These projects highlight visionary leadership and collaborative solutions that address regional challenges while promoting sustainable progress.
Lancaster’s project exemplifies how strategic investment and local partnership can transform communities, enhance quality of life, and lay the groundwork for long-term economic and neighborhood revitalization.
